Keeping Maine Warm
In Maine alone, Oilheat serves more than 80% of the homes in Maine. That
means keeping nearly 1 million Maine people warm during our notoriously cold
winters. That is a very important and a very big job.
With so many Oilheat customers in Maine and, in fact, all of New England, a
career in the Oilheat business can mean a very solid future in a highly
respected field.
Today there are about 12,000 Mainers who go to work every day to make sure
everyone stays warm and cozy and to supply the motor fuels to our vehicles. They help deliver close to $2 billion in
goods and service each year to Maine families.
Today in Maine, hundreds of jobs with outstanding benefits are available for
qualified people in the industry. The jobs include:
- Heat systems service technicians
- Heating system installation technicians
- Industrial sales representatives
- Customer service specialists
- Bookkeeping and finance positions
- Experienced truck mechanics
There are jobs with small family-owned oil dealerships and jobs with Maine's
larger oil dealers including career opportunities you¹d find in any
corporation setting such as benefits administration, human resources, and
other management positions.
Beginning and advanced courses in Oilheat technology are available at the
MODA Technical Education Center in Brunswick and are also offered by the Maine
Education Foundation at locations throughout the state. Click here for a calendar of educational seminars.
You can find more detailed information about the technological areas of the
Oilheat business at our web page for the MODA Education Foundation.
